Location: South Hospital 5200 E I240 Service Rd OKC OK 73135 Shift: Full time, Nights Responsibilities Overview: The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists in delivering pharmaceutical care within a hospital setting. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including medication preparation, storage, and supply management, all performed under pharmacist supervision. Key Responsibilities: Medication Preparation: Assist in preparing and processing medications as directed by a pharmacist. Medication Storage: Regularly check nursing units to ensure proper medication storage and compliance with safety standards. Repackaging & Labeling: Repackage medications and apply barcodes for efficient tracking and inventory management. Pharmaceutical Supplies Management: Order, stock, and transport pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with pharmacy policies and procedures. Customer Service: Interact courteously and collaboratively with patients, families, visitors, and staff, addressing their inquiries and needs. Patient Care: Consider the unique needs of patients and demonstrate age-specific competencies in all interactions. Mathematical Calculations: Perform necessary mathematical calculations for medication compounding and dosing accurately. Qualifications: Strong communication skills Attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and procedures Qualifications Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Licensure/Certification: Registration with Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 45 days of employment and national technician certification within one (1) year of service. Experience: One (1) year hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Assists the pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, compounding and ordering of medications. Is able to repackage medications and restock the automated dispensing machines. Demonstrates competency in aseptic technique and handling hazardous materials. Demonstrates a general knowledge of word and data processing operations sufficient to perform data entry and generating necessary reports.
