Travel Nurse RN - PCU in Omaha, NE

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Stepdown PCU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour days Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Valid and current RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Telemetry competency, experience with PCA pumps and Alaris IV pumps, familiarity with EPIC EMR system Job Description: - Provide patient care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), focusing on managing the care of adult and pediatric patients. - Work in a unit with common diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness. - Administer medications, including Cardizem and insulin, using appropriate safety mechanisms. - Engage in hourly rounding and ensure responsiveness to enhance patient experience. - Participate in cyclic scheduling and self-scheduling while meeting weekend shift requirements every third weekend. - Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and therapy specialists (PT, OT). - Utilize mechanical lifts available in designated rooms and work with nursing assistant support. - Adapt to unit challenges, including staffing and potential floating to medical-surgical areas as needed. - Maintain the unit's culture of teamwork and support. - Wear designated scrubs (Navy Blue for RNs, Ceil Blue for CNAs). - Engage in continuous learning and orientation of 12 hours to align with unit protocols and standards.
