An award-winning general contractor with over 20 years in the industry is seeking a Project Accountant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with project managers and subcontractors, as well as expertise in project cost accounting and percentage of completion. Familiarity with Vista Viewpoint, Spectrum, or Sage is highly preferred.

Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Project Accountant to join our team in the Construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial management and reporting for various construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is provided to project managers and stakeholders. This role will be pivotal in providing financial insights to aid in strategic decision making, managing project budgets, and ensuring the financial integrity of our construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project accounting for multiple construction projects, tracking all costs and revenues associated with the projects.
• Prepare and analyze project budget reports, identifying any discrepancies or issues and providing recommendations for resolution.
• Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to develop and maintain project budgets, providing financial expertise and advice.
• Perform monthly percentage of completion calculations and prepare related journal entries.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
• Carry out cost accounting activities, analyzing and reporting on project costs and profitability.
• Prepare and present financial reports, including project profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including GAAP.
• Assist in the preparation of financial audits, providing all necessary information and documentation.
• Participate in project meetings, providing financial updates and insights.
• Collaborate with other finance team members to improve financial processes and systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in percentage of completion accounting.
• Solid experience in cost accounting and budgeting.
• Excellent knowledge of general ledger functions.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
