We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated GL Staff Accountant to join our finance team on a contract-to-hire basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling general ledger accounts, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger by recording accurate journal entries, adjusting entries, and ensuring the integrity of financial data.
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary reports and documentation.
- Perform reconciliations of various general ledger accounts, including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies for financial reporting.
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies in account balances and variances.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Purchasing, to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
- Prepare and submit various financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements.
- Monitor and review accounting policies and processes, recommending improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably 5+
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as SAP, Epicor, or Oracle) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
