We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the logistics industry. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to our business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
  • Manage the preparation of the company's budget and financial forecasts. Implement and monitor financial control systems and procedures.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components.
  • Coordinate the activities of the accounts payable department to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all company invoices.
  • Monitor banking activities and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Develop and implement effective internal controls and processes.
  • Work closely with the logistics team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a senior role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Oracle.
  • Expertise in GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close process, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with Great Plains software is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.
  • Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
  • Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market, and business environments.
