General Summary of Position
Job Summary:As a Staff Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing personalized nutrition care to patients at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Your expertise will be instrumental in improving patients' overall well-being and helping them manage various medical conditions.

Primary Duties:
• Provide nutrition management services to include patient screening, nutrition assessment, and nutrition care-planning.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. Recommend and implement diet therapy and nutrition support modalities.
• Confer with medical and nursing staff in coordinating patient nutritional care. Participate in medical rounds/conferences.
• Monitor patient progress and develop follow-up recommendations for continuing nutrition care.
• Counsel patients/families on appropriate diet and/or nutrition practices relevant to their medical conditions.
• Document patient care activities in the medical records. Communicate patient care information to appropriate nutrition personnel to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in department operations relating to clinical responsibilities. Such operations may include monitoring patient care related activities, Action Line calls, patient representative referrals, etc. Complete department quality assurance reports as required.
• Assist in the training of Hospitality Assistants.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition with completion of an internship required
• 7 months to 1 year of previous experience providing nutrition therapy in a clinical setting preferably in acute care (as obtained in dietetics internship) required
• Dietitian DC DOH - DIETDC within 90 days required
• Must be Dietitian Registration eligible by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and examination must be taken within 1 month from start date.
• If licensed in another state, DC licensure must be applied for at time of start date.
