Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team specializing in Land Use, Zoning, and Eminent Domain law.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in these areas, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment.

This position requires hands-on involvement with land development projects, property disputes, government regulations, and property acquisitions related to eminent domain matters:

  • Assist attorneys in preparing and filing land use and zoning applications, permits, and other legal documents related to property development.
  • Conduct legal research on local, state, and federal regulations regarding zoning, land use, and eminent domain laws.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize city planning and zoning regulations, comprehensive plans, and land development codes.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents for eminent domain cases.
  • Manage project timelines, tracking zoning applications, land use changes, and deadlines for property-related cases.
  • Assist with the due diligence process, including title searches, surveys, and environmental reports for development projects.
  • Communicate with municipal, county, and state agencies, as well as property owners, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend public hearings and meetings related to zoning, planning, and land development projects, as needed.
  • Support attorneys during trials, hearings, and other litigation activities involving eminent domain or land use disputes.
  • Maintain case files and records, ensuring accurate documentation and filing of all legal materials.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience in land use, zoning, or eminent domain law.

•Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal land use and zoning regulations.

•Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.

•Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

•Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.

  • Familiarity with Fort Lauderdale/Dade County zoning laws and regulations.
  • Experience attending public hearings or meetings related to land use and zoning matters.
  • Knowledge of environmental law as it pertains to land development.
