Brazer

in our Gorham, ME location.

The ideal candidate should be patient, open to challenges, and recognize that brazing requires both precision and a blend of science and art.

What will you do in this role?Brazes bonds together with components to assemble metal parts as specified by blueprint and work ticketsUse problem solving skills in setting up work pieces, using fixtures, jigs, clamps, squares and visesKnowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essentialMust have sufficient knowledge in reading complex drawings, blueprints and work ticketsAbility to have a steady hand using hand torch and be mechanically inclined and knowledge of hand tools, measuring instruments and shop mathCleans joints of workpieces, using a wire brush or by dipping them into cleaning solutionSelects torch tip, flux, and brazing alloy from data charts or work orderBrushes flux onto joint of workpiece or dips braze rod into flux to prevent oxidation of metalGuides a torch and rod along joint or seam of workpiece to heat to brazing temperature and melt braze alloy to bond workpieces togetherExamines seams and re-brazes defective jointsMelt and separate brazed joints, using hand torch or furnace, remove and straighten components, and re-braze joints to repair misaligned or damaged assembliesWorkplace safety is a team effort and everyone's responsibility. We value our employees and their health and wellbeing!Requirements:What do you need to be successful?A minimum of 2 years' previous experience but will train the right candidateExperience with brazing and/or welding techniques and materials preferredKnowledgeable of metalworking safety protocolsDetail oriented, work independently, strong communication skillsMechanical aptitude of technical and functional terms, techniques, and processesAble to read and interpret blueprintsAttention to detail with a focus on producing high quality componentsInitiative, proactive, positive, and willing to learn

The shift schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm. Personal protective equipment (PPE) of safety shoes and glasses are required on the production floor areas.
