Job Description
About the Role
The Production Forklift Operator operates and maintains a forklift to supply production operations with raw materials to produce finished product, transfer finished product to storage or staging area, and ensures finished product is loaded onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customer delivery requirements. In addition to the forklift operational duties the Production Forklift Operator must be able to operate palletizer and downstream equipment. This includes palletizers, strapping machines, wrappers, conveyors and computer equipment used for labeling of finished goods. The Production Forklift Operator is responsible for handling floor operations as needed on-shift and will be looked upon to fill vacancies on-shift both planned and unplanned as needed to successfully staff the shift.Safety first - be aware of and abide by company safety policies and procedures at all timesComplete quality checks as required and communicate quality issues to the Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor and Quality DepartmentOperates and maintains forklift in a safe and efficient manner using work instructions, visual management and computer interfaceSupplies production operations with raw materials to produce finished productPrints and scans Bill of Lading for all finished goods using computer interface and RF scannerInspects finished goods for quality defectsEffectively run the Palletizer, being aware of your surroundings to ensure conveyer lines are free of blockagesTransfers finished goods to staging or storage areasLoads finished goods onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customers delivery requirementsUnload, sort, and replenish dunnage at palletizers for finished goods packagingAccurately completes all written logs and data input to include closing sequences on tickets and printing Bill of LadingEnsures accurate inventory counts and notifies lead/supervisor of discrepanciesEffectively communicates with all internal departmentsRemoves/reworks any damaged product on palletsMaintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping dutiesFollow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelinesTrain current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as neededPhysical Requirements
