Estimated 6 to 9 months assignmentPosition Summary:The Production Expeditor is responsible for ensuring a continuous flow of materials and parts in line with the manufacturing schedule. This role involves tracking, scheduling, and coordinating material flow between departments to meet production demands. The position also requires troubleshooting and resolving material shortages and schedule delays to ensure production goals are met.Key Responsibilities:Update systems such as Material Requirements Planning (MRP), MSS, and Real Time WIP (RTW) by entering accurate and timely information. Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in paperwork or system data to maintain work-in-process (WIP) accuracy.Plan production dates and quantities to meet monthly and short-term targets, identifying and reporting potential delays or issues that may impact the production schedule. Assist in prioritizing work assignments based on available resources, including personnel, materials, and tooling.Coordinate material movements between internal work areas, storage areas, suppliers, and outside processors to ensure materials are available when needed.Expedite the movement of parts to meet customer shipping deadlines using move orders, split work orders, and stock transfers. Report shortages, missing or discrepant parts, and additional material requirements to the appropriate departments.Assist management in resolving issues related to over-shipments, shortages, engineering changes, work orders on hold, and order cancellations. Monitor the status of component shortages and follow up as needed.Coordinate status and priority updates with departments such as Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, and Program Administration.Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques to planning and production activities, identifying cost reduction opportunities and participating in special projects.Maintain knowledge of planning methods, manufacturing operations, and products through team meetings, training, and technical manuals.Support team objectives and participate in cross-functional or project teams as needed.Qualifications:Five or more years of directly related experience in production scheduling or expediting.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:General knowledge of aerospace industry products with a solid understanding of manufacturing routings, travelers, and blueprints.Proficiency in using business software and specialized manufacturing resource planning systems (e.g., MSS, RTW).Ability to apply continuous improvement methods and adapt procedures to meet unique needs.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, establish facts, and make informed decisions.Excellent communication skills for responding to inquiries, providing updates, and presenting information to stakeholders.Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contribute to goal-setting, and participate in performance feedback and self-development activities.
