Reports To: Branch ManagerFLSA Classification: Non-ExemptPosition Summary:The Material Handler provides customer satisfaction in accurately processing customer orders, shipping, receiving intra-company transfers, and inventory counts.Duties and Responsibilities:Operate a forklift, two-wheel hand cart, and scales.Retrieve stock to fulfill orders.Check outgoing and incoming shipments for accuracy.Check orders for accuracy.Inspect goods for defects and report damaged or defective material/product to thesupervisor or sales staff; no damaged product will be sent out.Place compiled/completed orders in appropriate designated areas.Monitor the movement and progress of orders to ensure timely delivery.Order picking, packing, wrapping, labeling products, and shrink-wrapping orders thatare palletized according to a standard operating procedure, making a note to follow anyspecial instructions on orders with customer-specific requests.Keep the work area clean, safe, organized, and maintained by following the 6 S's (Sort,Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).Load finished products/orders onto trucks. Transport stock from storage to warehouse orwhere needed. Load or unload material inbound or outbound.Open bales, crates, and other containers.Assist in counting physical inventory.Wear the proper safety equipment and always abide by safety rules. RequirementsEducation and Experience Required:HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institutionPrevious 1-2 years warehouse experience requiredPreferred Education, Experience, and Skills:Previous experience operating warehouse equipment, and successful completion of a forklift training programEffective written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills & Mathematical skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailKnowledgeable in TFI/OSHA Safety RequirementsPhysical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 4+ hours per shiftMust be able to work in a hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environmentMust be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shiftMust be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shiftMuch be able to crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shiftMust be able to climb ladders for 4+ hours per shiftMust be able to sit, stand, and walk for 6+ hours per shiftMust be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shiftMust be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shiftMust be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken words, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
