Sr Principal Weapons Aerodynamics and Stores Separation Engineer

to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in

Melbourne, FL.ResponsibilitiesPerform aerodynamic characterization efforts utilizing analytical methodsPlan, coordinate, execute and oversee wind tunnel test including two body separation testsConduct aircraft separation analysesStand up, Develop and manage tools for conceptual design and aircraft grid creation and performSupport conceptual and preliminary design efforts of aircraft and componentsProduce analysis products that calculate aerodynamic loads on separating bodiesProgress infrastructure for databases, codes, and tools managementDrive and support wind tunnel, ground, and flight testingDevelop test methods for weapons experimental aerodynamic and performance characterizationExecute uncertainty analysesCollaborate closely with cross-functional and program-based teamsRepresent work products in customer meetings and design reviewsCollaborate with other disciplines including Configuration, Aerodynamics, S&RE, CFD, Mechanisms, etc.Able to work self-directedBasic QualificationsBachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experienceExperience partnering with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop aircraft and subsystemsExperience with aerodynamic tools and techniques,Understanding of the challenges of flow fields in subsonic, transonic and super sonicFamiliarity with translating aerodynamic analyses into workable design solutions for flight vehiclesGenerate aerodynamic databases for 6DOF simulation including proximity effectsRun 6DOF trajectory analysisAnalyze acoustic data for open cavities from wind tunnel or CFD measurementsAnalyze requirements and create run condition lists for stores integration testing and numerical analysisFamiliarity with configuration aerodynamics toolsPreferred Qualifications6 years professional experience related to aerodynamics of store separationExperience with DOD safety board processes for store separationFamiliarity with CAD tools such as NX and CPLMDemonstrated record of working hard, strong communication skills, and being accountableExperience with Matlab for data analysis and data reductionFamiliarity or experience with FortranPrevious experience with onsite support of wind tunnel testing and data acquisition systemsSolid understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals, CFD techniques, and wind tunnel testing, including two body separation testsSalary Range:

$114,900 - $172,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
