MFA Call for Artists – Light & Shadow Exhibition

International Deadline: October 9, 2024 – Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) invites artists worldwide to enter our 7th Annual Light & Shadow Exhibition. All original 2D or 3D artwork in any media will be eligible for this online show.Where there’s light, there must be shadow. Whether an artist knows it or not, light and shadow are essential to all forms of art, either as the subject of the piece, or the material being used to create it. From the dramatic chiaroscuros of the European Renaissance to the interactive and immersive experiences of Mary Corse and Yayoi Kusama, light and shadow continuously fascinate artists.Pieces that play with this dynamic will be eligible for Maryland Federation of Art’s 7th annual Light and Shadow exhibition. Works selected by the juror will be on display in ArtCall’s online web gallery, from December 15, 2024 – January 31, 2025.ELIGIBILITYEntry will be open to all artists residing internationally.All entries must be original and completed solely by the artist’s hand. A maximum of 6 original works created within the past 3 years may be entered. Work previously exhibited at MFA’s Online Gallery is not eligible for re-entry.JURORLeah Triplett Harrington: Director of Exhibitions & Contemporary Curatorial Initiatives.Leah Triplett Harrington is Director of Exhibitions and Contemporary Curatorial Initiatives at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). Previously she was a curator at Now + There, where she facilitated the Public Art Accelerator and organized large-scale public art commissions in Boston. Her writing has appeared in ArtAsiaPacific, ArtNet News, Sculpture, Public Art Dialogue, Flash Art, Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, and others. Up to 4 additional entries $6.75 each (MFA Members $4.50). Entry fees are non-refundable.SALESWork must be for sale. Work may be set to Price on Request (POR). Artists will retain 70% from sales (75% for MFA Members). The gallery is located in a restored loft space in the heart of the Annapolis Historic District and has been operating continuously since opening its doors.
