As one of Tia’s Phlebotomists, this role will perform routine clinical tasks to keep the clinic running smoothly. Core functions of your role will include lab services, ensuring all rooms are properly prepared throughout the day, managing supply inventory, and collecting & preparing blood and other samples.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPreparing lab orders for URL and IRL one day in advanceReconcile Lab ErrorsMaintaining knowledge of Quest products, specimen processing requirements, and serving as the point of contact for the Quest accountIdentifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingersticks.Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.Ordering laboratory supplies, as neededMAY SUPPORT WITHReview insurance to ensure verification statusCheck patients in on arrivalEscort the patient to the exam roomComplete vitalsSet communication in motion with Provider and in communication channelBasic housekeeping to ensure communal areas are stocked, cleanly, and maintained.Reviews patients chart one day in advance to prep for visitRuns all controlsAutoclave maintenanceSurgical equipment sterilizationSet-up and chaperone surgical procedureObtains patient consents for any proceduresMaintains an appropriate level of office supplies and medical forms at workstationReviews clinic inbox in Tia MDSupports Provider with U.A CX, HCG, glucose testingAD- HOC DUTIESThrough cross-functional collaboration, can execute ad-hoc projects as needed and meet deadlines.Undertake additional ad-hoc projects to help with clinic operations varying from research, product sourcing, G-Suite Documentation of processes, miscellaneous errands, and facilitation of team meetings and training.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or GED from an accredited institutionAdvanced training in Medical Assisting - MA Certification preferred, but not requiredMinimum 1 year of healthcare lab as a phlebotomist or 2 years as a M.A. which includes the daily responsibility of phlebotomy experience with multiple providersExperience using effective puncture techniques, knowledge of testing protocols and the use of testing equipment, superb dexterity and hand-eye coordination, excellent verbal and written communication skills and keen attention to detail.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods, is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb steps/stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; smell; manage stress as it relates to essential job functions.
