A Welder/Cladder is a skilled craftsman whose primary responsibility is to fuse various metal alloys utilizing industry standard welding processes.These processes include, but are not limited to manual, semi-automatic or mechanized Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). Responsibilities: Position will primarily be cladding Weld various materials as described such as carbon steel, low alloy carbon steel, stainless steel Read, understand and execute written instructions (Production orders) Read, understand and work to engineering drawings; Read, understand and work to Welding Procedure Specifications; Understand and implement the proper control settings for industry standard welding power supplies and power supply controllers; Condition, grind welds on production parts Use a tape measure to accurately measure part dimensions; Use steel squares to align and fit connectors or fittings to pipe; Use an electronic protractor or digital level to determine part alignment for parallelism and perpendicularity; Flame cut metal using Oxy-fuel torch and mechanized beveling equipment; Use a right angle pneumatic or electric grinder to prepare a weld bevel for arc welding; Use a carbon arc gouge to back-gouge; Use temperature indicating crayons and contact pyrometer to determine part temperature; Operate overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes to safely move parts; Operate a forklift to safely move palletized and loose parts; Perform manual and electronic weld data logging Required Skills and Experience: Required: High school graduate or GED. Required: 2 years of experience welding and is proficient in welding carbon and stainless-steel pipe, fittings and plate. This classification of welder is not limited by welding position and can make 100% x-ray quality welds using GMAW, FCAW, SMAW and GTAW in all positions (including GMAW and GTAW open root pipe welds) as well as SAW in the flat position. Required: Experience with weld overlay cladding Preferred: Experience with Arc Specialties Arc-5 machines To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined above for this position in a satisfactory manner. Fluent in English both reading and writing Able to perform tasks with limited supervision; able understand what they have been instructed to do Good communication skills; capable of instructing and training other welders or welding operators Training on safety, welding procedures, drawings, shop routers or work instructions as needed Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work flexible hours Must be able to pass an extensive background check and physical Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment/Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position will require working primarily indoors in a manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion. Indoor locations are partially climate controlled. Occasional assignments will require evening or weekend schedules. The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. This work is performed primarily from the standing position but may require the welder to bend at the waist and or knees, lie on his back or side or work from the sitting position while looking up or down. Workstations may be located on production pieces such as skids or inside vessels Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the United States. All employees must be able to comply with the company Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes participation in Company random drug testing.
