Job DescriptionAs a key team member of the Accounting department, the intern will be responsible for managing assigned projects and supporting accounting team members with projects, in alignment with the finance team's priorities. This position contributes to the department by improving the quality and flow of information, building departmental culture, and promoting the adoption of new processes and tools.Based on the intern's qualifications and interests, we will tailor the internship program and establish a relationship with the team within Accounting that best fits the needs and interests of the intern. Available teams include General Accounting, Derivatives, Cash Applications, Technical Accounting & Reporting, Fixed Assets, Retail Accounting, and Settlements Accounting.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and present regular and timely reports and presentations, including illustrations and graphics of Accounting initiatives and associated business outcomesGather data to support departmental and team reportingRecommend and design solutions to meet needsBenefits of InternshipGain-hands on experience in an Accounting environmentShadowing and training experiences with knowledgeable professionalsOpportunity to attend meetings to receive more insight to the energy businessMentorship opportunities with Accounting leadersTechnical and Behavioral Competencies Required for this PositionUnderstanding of Accounting and any concentrations within itAdvanced computer skills including MS Office productsExperience working on a teamStrong communicator who can relate well to all levelsAppetite to learn something newTime management skills - internship, school, extracurricularsPossess and exhibit a high level of integrityConsultative problem-solving approachProven track record of success, a collaborative and participative style, and the ability to make presentations to Accounting staffHands-on, enthusiastic, results-oriented analyst, capable of adding significant value to the existing teamAble to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing environment, deal well with ambiguity, and take ownership for decision makingExperience Skills & Education RequirementsAccounting, Finance, or another related field majorExperience working on a teamAdvanced computer skills including MS Office productsJob FamilyGeneral Services
