Position Description

Material Handlers are responsible for moving goods throughout the facility and assist in maintaining the warehouse properly organized and maintained in order.

Work Schedule

This position works 12-hour shifts, 6pm-6am. This schedule works on a 2-2-3 schedule (work two, off two, work three, and vice versa). The hours per week will be 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week, then restart. Additional overtime may be required as necessary for the success of the team.

Certain Material Handler roles will work a different schedule, depending on the needs of the shift/department at that time.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load trucks, unloading trucks and transfer material within the plant and within departments as needed.

Help keep the warehouse clean and organized on a daily basis to ensure product can be located easily and efficiently.

Perform daily inventory as needed to provide information for any necessary adjustments. Communicate information to the appropriate people.

Coordinate scrap material storage as needed.

Oversee changes to the department storage floor plan.

Communicate information to the appropriate people.

Coordinate storage locations.

May be required to perform material move transactions in Business One as needed.

Keep work areas clean following 5S guidelines.

Other miscellaneous responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Required Education and Experience and Skills

High School diploma or equivalent

Manufacturing experience is a plus

Sit-down forklift experience preferred

Able to work a 12-hour shift

Physical Characteristics

Inside work, 90%

Outside work, 10%

Working temperatures ranging from 20-90F

Exposure to moving machinery/equipment/vehicles and confined/cramped spaces

Required PPE of safety glasses, earplugs, safety-toe shoes, beard/hair nets, and cut gloves

Constant standing/walking

Frequent sitting

Frequent stooping/squatting

Frequent kneeling/crawling/bending

Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying of 30-50lbs. for up to 100 feet

Frequent reaching high, low, and out

Frequent typing/keyboarding

Repetitive and frequent use of wrist/hand/fingers

Good correctable visual acuity with both eyes

Good visual perception of color, depth, and fields

Good reading and writing abilities

Required forklift driving

Good earing with both ears

Good use of hands/feet
