Job Description: As an Agronomy Intern - Test Plot Data Collection, you will work closely with our research team to ensure accurate and efficient collection of data from our test plots. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the collection, recording, and analysis of agronomic data for various crop trials. Your work will directly contribute to the advancement of our research efforts and support decision-making processes. Responsibilities: Field Data Collection:Visit assigned test plots regularly to collect agronomic data, including but not limited to crop growth stages, plant population, weed presence, pest and disease incidence, and soil characteristics.Follow established protocols and guidelines to ensure consistent and accurate data collection.Record data in a systematic manner, maintaining detailed and organized records.Collaborate with the research team to identify any issues or anomalies observed in the field. Data Analysis and Reporting:Assist in organizing and analyzing collected data using spreadsheet software and statistical tools.Collaborate with the research team to interpret and summarize findings from the collected data.Prepare clear and concise reports, charts, and graphs to communicate data insights effectively.Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding data interpretation and recommendations. Equipment Maintenance:Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of field equipment used for data collection.Clean and store equipment appropriately after each use.Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor. Qualifications:Currently pursuing a degree in agronomy, agricultural sciences, or a related field.Strong interest in crop production, agronomy research, and data analysis.Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Basic knowledge of field data collection techniques and tools.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) is a plus.Effective communication and organizational skills.Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and field conditions.Physical capability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform fieldwork.Valid driver's license and ability to travel between test plot locations.
