Role Summary/Purpose:
The Vice President, ACL & Capital Analytics Oversight is responsible for risk oversight of analytical tools and overlays used in ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning, and Stress Testing. The focus is on evaluating Non-Model Tools (NMTs) and overlays in these areas. The role reports to the VP, Capital and ACL Oversight.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide effective challenge of all modeling overlays used for ACL, Loss Forecasting, Capital Planning, and Stress Testing using documentation and rationale provided by the 1st Line of Defense.
- Evaluate differences between primary and benchmark modeling outputs and configurations.
- Assess Non-Model Tools (NMTs) for reasonability, accuracy, and governance controls according to Synchrony standards.
- Review methodologies for historical mean values and mean reversion in ACL calculations.
- Evaluate the applicability and use of multiple macroeconomic scenarios.
- Present findings at relevant risk committees.
- Drive quarterly risk assessment and aggregation processes for ACL/LF and Capital.
- Manage issues related to ACL/LF and Capital risks, ensuring reporting and escalation.
- Review and assess the accuracy of risk and control documentation.
- Update oversight procedures annually and collaborate on emerging risks.
- Mentor team members and support regulatory and audit activities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years in financial services.
- 3+ years of management experience.
Desired Characteristics:
- MBA or certifications like FRM, CFA, CPA preferred.
- Strong influencing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in oversight roles and relationship building.
- Proficiency in data analysis, presentation, and managing priorities.
Additional Details:
Salary range: $130,000 - $210,000 USD annually, plus bonus. Work location options include remote, hub, or office; occasional commuting required.
