Overview:
The Government Account Manager plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining client relationships within government accounts across designated areas. This position focuses on proactive management and tailored solutions, driving both account retention and revenue growth through keen engagement with clients to understand their regional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and enhance relationships with current and prospective clients, offering insightful recommendations on product offerings that meet their requirements.
- Identify and generate leads for target accounts to expand new revenue opportunities.
- Explore existing accounts for service expansion and win new projects.
- Seek opportunities to convert competitor customers to our offerings.
- Promote product and service sales beyond the initial service scope.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure equipment availability, timely deliveries, and effective servicing.
- Manage account strategies within assigned territories to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
- Achieve or surpass regional revenue targets.
- Deliver customized solutions that align with client needs and maximize upselling potential.
- Maintain strong regional relationships with clients, ensuring consistent communication and proactive support.
- Work with internal teams to resolve service issues and maintain a high-quality client experience.
- Present service options to clients, demonstrating product benefits and value-added services.
- Utilize company offerings effectively to address a diverse range of client challenges.
- Lead sales processes from first contact through to proposal and negotiation, ensuring smooth transitions and satisfaction.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of all solution offerings.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales cycle and post-sale process.
- Stay current on industry trends and changes.
- Efficiently allocate resources to enhance outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not involve direct supervision of others.
Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent sales experience.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in sales, with at least 3 years in outside sales or a comparable mix of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel more than 35% of the time.
- Reliable transportation for client visits.
- Familiarity with equipment rental agreements and logistics.
- Ability to manage multiple clients through various stages of the sales cycle while maintaining high service standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- A knack for building and nurturing solid client relationships.
- Adaptable and quick to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative team player, capable of developing strong relationships across departments.
- Effective in communicating with clients and presenting tailored solutions.
- Solid knowledge of sales processes and CRM systems, such as Salesforce.
- Able to balance the needs of multiple clients, quickly adapting to shifts in priorities while maintaining service quality.
Physical Requirements:
- This hybrid outside sales role involves moderate physical activity, including time spent sitting in a vehicle or at a desk, as well as walking and standing during client site visits.
- The job will feature periods spent in a standard office setting.
- Frequent driving to client locations may expose the employee to various weather conditions and physical environments.
- Manual dexterity is needed to handle various tools and equipment.
- Visual acuity is necessary for discerning details from a short distance.
- Clear verbal communication is essential for interacting with clients.
- Ability to understand and respond to verbal communication from others.
- Requires the ability to focus on specific sounds and discern differences between them.
- Proficiency in identifying color differences and visual details.
