Highland Hospital, located in Oakland, California, is a UCSF affiliated level 1 trauma center and is the largest facility of Alameda Health System which serves a diverse patient population in California’s East Bay Area. As part of Alameda County's safety net, we provide quality, accessible care to our community's most vulnerable patients. The Dental Clinic at Highland Hospital and the Dental Clinics at Eastmont Wellness Center provide comprehensive dental care to adults and children including but not limited to; preventative and restorative dental services, emergency dental services and exodontia. Providers are made up of general dentists, dental specialists, and dental residents. RDAs are paired 1:1 with providers to provide 4-handed dentistry. Our providers and staff are dedicated to our patients and would love to welcome others who share our mission! We are currently recruiting a per diem General Dentist to provide additional coverage for our providers at both locations. This position will be based at Highland Hospital and Eastmont Wellness Center. This position will require you to be available to provide services as needed (per diem). Under direction to provide professional dental services with the AHS Dental Clinics; and to do other related work as required. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. 1. Performs oral examinations at the AHS Dental Clinics, interprets x-rays; treats mouth diseases; performs prophylactic procedures, restorations, and other treatment as needed; takes impressions, orders dentures and fits and adjusts dentures; instructs patients in oral hygiene and dental care. 2. Performs emergency procedures in order to reduce immediate pain; refers patients for needed dental care to the regularly scheduled Staff Dentist for treatment. 3. Performs dental evaluations, performs all needed care on juvenile whose guardians are covered by an aid program and informs responsible guardians of dental care which must be given juveniles through private dentists. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
