Anticipated Assistant Systems Administrator

Overall Responsibilities
This position is responsible for desktop, technology hardware, and layer 1/2 network support. This position is responsible to support up to four Nashua School District buildings to ensure uptime, productivity, and to support teacher and learning.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Associates degree with equivalent experience. General knowledge of client/server operating systems and WAN/LAN network environments. Knowledge of PC hardware repair. Knowledge of administrative and instructional applications, including Microsoft Office. Requires excellent customer communication skills. Ability to work with staff. Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair networked computers and networked printers within assigned schools. Maintain and repair networked servers within assigned schools. Maintain and repair switches and routers within assigned schools. Install software on networked servers and networked computers, and assist in troubleshooting. Respond to customer requests through automated Helpdesk system, email requests, or personal requests. Requests will include needs for hardware support, software support, electronic mail support, account and profile requests, and other general system administrative work. Prioritize work as needed for most effective use of time, responding to customer requests based on urgency. Ensure proper use of network computing resources by students by reviewing suspected issues, reported misuse, and taking appropriate corrective action. Work with Administration around suspected misuse of networked computing resources by staff (Note: Director of Technology or designate should be involved in any staff investigation). Assist Network Administrator to ensure proper backup of critical data and restore requests within assigned schools. Support IP telephony within schools. Responsible for project-based work, assigned by Director and Network Administrator.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Physically performs sedentary work exerting up to 20 pounds of force infrequently, up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but will include walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasionally reach above shoulders, kneel and bend. Mental demands requiring decision making, analytical and organizational skills in order to achieve work objectives, draw daily operational conclusions, solve practical problems, use computer technology and to present information for use by administration in making decisions.
