The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing day-to-day operations of the engineering and maintenance department at ABM. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure. The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a key role in supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This is a Union position. Pay: $61.59 per hour The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Location: El Segundo, CA Shift: Monday to Friday, Daytime Hours Travel: 10%-20% Benefit Information: This is a union position and as such, will include union benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Position Summary: The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing day-to-day operations of the engineering and maintenance department at ABM. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure. The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a key role in supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Chief Engineer in managing and maintaining all building systems and equipment. Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians and contractors. Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues proactively. Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot system failures. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards. Assist in budget preparation and cost control for maintenance operations. Provide training and guidance to engineering staff to ensure high performance and safety. Serve as acting Chief Engineer in their absence. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in building maintenance or engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS).
