Foundations in Education, Inc.
is a Connecticut not-for-profit organization committed to strengthen and transform the mission of Catholic education in the Diocese of Bridgeport by providing tuition assistance to families in need and supporting innovation in academic programs and fostering opportunities for the professional development of school leaders. Foundations in Education is responsible for fundraising, contributing to, overseeing, and administering funds and endowments for the benefit of Catholic educational and scholarship programs, operations, initiatives, and functions in Catholic schools throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut. The Foundation also supports programs that foster academic innovation and the ongoing training and support of educational leadership through grant opportunities for the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic school teachers and administrators throughout Fairfield County.
Overall Responsibility
The Assistant Director for Scholarships and Grants is responsible for managing and growing the scholarship programs, including Bishop’s Scholarship Fund, and the Innovation and Leadership Grant program of Foundations in Education. With direct oversight and management of overall grant operations, and reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director will staff the Board Committees for Scholarship and Grant distribution and will work to manage, according to Board approved procedures, the whole of the scholarships and grant applications and granting processes. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for timely distribution of funds and all marketing and communication related to these programs.
He/She will play a critical role in defining and implementing the Foundations’ grant strategy and priorities and will manage and direct all facets of the scholarship programs, the Innovation and Leadership Grants program and other distribution programs created or launched through Foundations in Education. He/She will also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for all communications, marketing, applications and processing of scholarships and grants. He/She must have the knowledge and ability to work closely with fellow staff, board members, school personnel, parents and donors alike. He/She must prepare regular and annual reports to donors, committees and the Board by providing relevant data regarding specific programs.
Responsibilities Include
Managing the overall scholarships and grant application, selection and distribution processes Staffing related Board committees Administering all scholarship programs, including the Bishop’s Scholarship Fund, applications, review and award processes and other like projects Administering all aspects of the Innovation and Leadership Grants, application, review and award process Managing the marketing and communications related to scholarships, grants, and Foundations’ activities across platforms, including but not limited to electronic and print media, social media, newsletters, LinkedIn postings, constant contact, donor reports in collaboration with Development associate and other communications initiatives for Foundations in Education generally as needed Planning and executing events related to scholarships and grants including BSF Leaders of Tomorrow reception, restricted scholarship receptions, Faculty grant awards event and other events related to scholarships or grants Collaborating on Foundations in Education events as needed Willingness to work evenings and weekend as required Additional duties as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years experience in Catholic school development, admissions, marketing or comparable experience.
The candidate will also have a proven track record of success, excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate must be a team player, self-motivated strategic thinker, detail-oriented, persistent, intuitive, a creative problem-solver, good humored and able to interact with staff, donors, trustees, parents, teachers and other key school administrators.
The successful candidate should be comfortable with a mission driven organization and a fast paced work environment.
Knowledge of MS Suite, FACTS Grant and Aid, WordPress, Constant Contact, Adobe InDesign or like software and google analytics a plus. Spanish speaking preferred not required.
