Associate Director of Operations and Events
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Associate Director of Advocacy
Mother’s Outreach Network (MON), a nonprofit organization, seeks a full-time Associate Director of Operations and Events. The person who fills this position will provide general administrative support to the Executive Director as well as organize and coordinate the daily and ongoing office operations. This includes such duties as overseeing interoffice communications; entering content to various databases; supporting the Executive Director; providing logistical support for programming staff when needed especially as regards special events; managing vendors; and providing daily and general updates of income and expenses to the Executive Director for bookkeeping purposes.
ABOUT MOTHER’S OUTREACH NETWORK
MON is a constituency-driven organization dedicated to family preservation, racial justice, and economic security for families living in the lower-income wards of Washington, D.C. and who are involved with or at-risk of being involved with the family policing child welfare system. MON advances the inclusion and empowerment of mothers living in poverty who struggle to keep their families whole, stable, and economically secure by transforming punitive-focused government income and child welfare laws, policies and practices to humane, financially sound, and effective government solutions to support the alleviation of family crises and allow children to stay safely with their natural families. To achieve its mission, MON employs community lawyering, community organizing, and mother-led advocacy programs.
Key Duties
Office Administration
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director as needed.
- Maintain and, when necessary, upgrade the organization’s centralized document filing system for all major MON internal documents, such as, personnel files, organizational policies and procedures, all legal papers and notices, all financial documents, Board reports and minutes, Board Committee reports and minutes.
- Support the completion and facilitate the provision of needed documents for administrative, and financial compliance requirements.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to monitor incoming invoices and provide financial information for bookkeeping on a timely basis.
- Maintain familiarity with all database upgrades.
- Maintain inventory for office supplies and equipment.
- Work with vendors.
- Provide planned support to staff for specific projects and events.
- Handle the Executive Director’s support requests in a timely manner, prioritizing and communicating effectively.
Development and Marketing Support
- Maintain donor software including database entry of donor/foundation/corporation name; key contact; donor deadlines; contact information; assistant (if there is one); listing of all cultivation/stewardship communications; listing of all requests and responses; maintain notes specific to individual funders.
- Maintain task management tools and calendar alerts to ensure fundraising, administrative and social media tasks stay within specific deadlines.
- Post social media updates on regular and scheduled basis, as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Excellent judgement regarding confidentiality of sensitive and private organizational and personnel information.
- Excellent time-management and planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, take initiative, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Google Sheets, Mailchimp, and presentation software. Familiarity with Little Green Light, our donor management software, is a plus.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with posting on social media

COMPENSATION
This is a full-time salaried position, and the salary is $95,000 to $100,000 per year pending experience. A health, dental and vision benefits package is provided: health insurance is covered by 100% for the employee and available to dependents. All federal holidays and all holidays observed by the District of Columbia are observed, as well as the week between Christmas and New Year.
Location
Must live in the Washington, D.C. and accept MON’s in-office hours. MON maintains a hybrid-office schedule with all employees expected to be working on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Employees may select to work from home on Mondays and Fridays pending the week’s work demands.
