Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to share this opportunity: Veterinary Technician / Animal Care Technician Pay Rate: $35/hour Must have experience with all species below We are seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (or an experienced Animal Care Technician ) to coordinate and perform clinical and surgical procedures across multiple species housed in our vivarium. The ideal candidate will have specialized husbandry and procedural skills with laboratory animal models, including rodents, rabbits, and pigs. This position works closely with the Attending Veterinarian and the Operations Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform routine procedures including: Blood withdrawal and substance administration via various routes Intubation and IV catheter placement Anesthesia and euthanasia Procedures across rodents, rabbits, and pigs Collaborate with PIs to create, implement, and document live animal procedures Conduct and document weekly health checks on all animals Act as point of escalation for sick/injured animals and coordinate care/euthanasia with the Attending Veterinarian Review weekly room check sheets to ensure proper environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light, airflow, pest control) and accurate safety signage Manage procurement and inventory of: Feed, bedding, gases (O? and CO?), procedural supplies, staff supplies, and equipment Coordinate with vendors for preventative maintenance of HVAC and vivarium equipment Monitor experiments for protocol adherence; report deviations to the Attending Veterinarian, Operations Manager, and IACUC Assist with Post Approval Monitoring (PAM) and staff training Conduct environmental testing to confirm sanitation effectiveness for both macro- and microenvironments Manage sentinel program to monitor colony health and prevent disease outbreaks Initiate and manage rodent breeding colonies as needed Perform other duties as assigned by the Attending Veterinarian and Director of Operations Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including weekends and holidays, as required Qualifications: Certification as a Veterinary Technician by an AVMA-accredited organization or equivalent experience as an Animal Care Technician with demonstrated technical proficiency Proficiency in routine procedures including blood collection, anesthesia, intubation, and catheter placement across species Experience managing rodent breeding colonies and monitoring colony health Familiarity with regulatory compliance and animal care standards Knowledge of laboratory facility operations and equipment maintenance Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or outside standard hours as needed Once you apply, you’ll proceed to next steps if your skills and experience look like a good fit.
