CBS News is seeking an executive producer to oversee a daily politics program and serve as the point person for its Washington, D.The executive producer will work with a show team, anchor, politics editors, and correspondents in the D.C. bureau, as well as editorial leads in New York, to set the daily agenda for political coverage on the CBS News 24/7 network and lead the hour-long live weekday politics program. Build a comprehensive and visually compelling news block for the top of the show.
Lead a team to produce an hour-long daily politics program, including writing intros, tags, and questions as needed.
Work with booking producers and DC editorial producers to secure newsmakers for live interviews.
Deliver a line-up of correspondent segments and live interviews for daily programming across the streaming network’s other shows.
Attend daily politics meetings and work with the politics team to develop original story angles.
Serve as the key point of contact in the bureau during breaking news.
Mentor, develop, and train a team of producers.
Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and unpredictable hours based on news needs.
10+ years of experience producing live segments and taped programming, with recent experience in a national newsroom or top local market.
~7+ years of experience as a show producer in a live control room.
Experience thriving in a breaking news environment, producing impactful journalism on deadline.
Background in structuring live interviews that break news and bring new information clearly and compellingly.
Success in building, developing, and leading diverse teams.
Deep knowledge of politics and a commitment to storytelling that conveys political impact outside the beltway.
