We export our products around the world to airports, cities, snow contractors and other customers. Trecan's technical history is steeped in combustion technology and thermal efficiency. Our Snowmelters are the most efficient available, due to our submerged combustion system. The submerged combustion method transfers heat energy from the combustion process to water and snow in the melting tank through direct contact. Our products also include IT-enabled remote monitoring capability. For these reasons and more, our Snowmelters are considered "the industry standard". THE ROLE We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technologist in an industry-leading heavy equipment manufacturing company. As part of the engineering team, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist's primary responsibility is to ensure that their project deliverables are completed in a timely, accurate and professional manner. On any given day, you may be creating new product CAD, testing new snowmelters for proper operation, or working with our Production team to resolve issues arising during the fabrication and assembly process. At Trecan, our team members can see their work come to full fruition. From project initiation to delivery and in service support, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist is involved in all aspects of the product manufacturing lifecycle. In addition to daily design, CAD and production support work, The Mechanical Engineering Technologist also provides on-call customer support (on a rotational basis) during the snow season, including occasional travel to diagnose and repair customer's Snowmelters. We are looking for a motivated self-starter with strong mechanical knowledge that can operate both independently and as part of a project team. KEYTASKS: •Prepare CAD models and drawings. •Prepare engineering work instructions for manufacturing. •Provide technical support to production team to investigate and resolve problems during manufacturing. •Provide technical support to customers for diagnosing and troubleshooting problems remotely by phone and occasional travel to site (Including international) •Provide customer training. •Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Trecan safety policies, procedures, manuals, occupational health and safety regulations. •Start up or commissioning of a Snowmelter •Other tasks as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: •Certificate in Engineering Technology (Mechanical preferred, but other disciplines will be •Experience with Solidworks and/or AutoCAD or similar CAD programs. •Experience generating mechanical drawings and work instructions for manufacturing. •Hands-on experience with metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, burner technology or equipment service would be considered a strong asset. •Experience with/knowledge of electrical troubleshooting. •Excellent written/oral English and good interpersonal skills. •Ability and willingness for occasional international travel. •Have a valid passport. •Prior experience working with ERPs is considered an asset.
