Saint Stephens College is currently seeking Sports Coaches with high energy, a positive attitude, and a strong knowledge of sport-specific safety and training principles. Our Coaches should have excellent organisational skills and be able to engage students in sports in a motivating and inspiring manner.
The college offers a diverse range of sports catering to various interests and ability levels. In junior years, emphasis is on enjoyment, fair participation, and skill development. In senior years, results and team success become more prominent. As part of the Associated Private Schools (APS), which includes eight Gold Coast independent schools, students have opportunities to compete in various sports against other schools.
APS sports are categorized into two seasons:
- Season one includes Football, Hockey, Netball (girls), Rugby Union (boys), Tennis, Volleyball.
- Season two includes Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Softball (girls), Water Polo.
- Season two begins in June 2025.
- Application closing date: Friday, 23 May 2025. The College may shortlist and appoint before this date or extend the deadline at its discretion.
Saint Stephen’s College is committed to child safety and staff will be responsible for understanding and applying the College Child Protection Policy and Child Risk Management Strategy, along with related policies.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervising students and fulfilling duty of care, especially during transportation and after training.
- Supporting College expectations regarding behaviour and uniform.
- Designing, documenting, and conducting training programs; attending games as the designated Coach.
- Engaging students in a motivating manner.
- Demonstrating correct exercise techniques and ensuring safety.
- Monitoring student participation, keeping records, and communicating concerns to the Director of Sports.
- Administering first aid and managing incidents, completing necessary documentation.
- Assisting with sports field setup and equipment management.
- Communicating with students, parents, and team members via face-to-face, email, and phone.
- Completing administrative duties with confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Modeling friendliness, empathy, fairness, and integrity.
- Having current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it prior to start.
- Possessing relevant coaching certification in the applicant's sport.
Mandatory Clearances/Certifications
- Blue Card, in accordance with ‘No Card, No Start’ law under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.
- First Aid certification or willingness to complete training.
