Description
The Director of Autism Services is responsible for leading and advancing WORK Inc.’s services to support individuals with Autism and pioneering innovative services reflecting the needs and interests of this population. The Director will consistently create and maintain systems that ensure each participant, and their family, can access support services that will help them achieve greater levels of independence and well-being through a suite of services such as life skills training, day programming, companionship, social opportunities, employment, and education. The Director will oversee staff supervision, case and task assignments, and address administrative needs across all programs within the department. They will support consistent programming by coordinating coverage and filling in service and staffing gaps as needed. The Director should be available and accessible for all day-to-day operational needs of the department. They will also routinely review program policies, operations, and outcomes and make qualified decisions and modifications as appropriate. They will work closely with the VP of ASD Services to assess and enhance service delivery, monitor funding streams and contracts, and manage the department budget. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human service-related field 3+ years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities 1+ years’ experience in a management/supervisory role Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record Knowledge of DDS and MRC systems and regulations is a plus Required Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and comorbid mental health diagnosis Creativity and willingness to think outside of the box to develop innovative programming Ability to provide leadership and guidance within the department and agency Enthusiasm to identify and implement solutions to challenges in programming, service delivery, and management as they arise Flexibility to work with a wide range of individuals, families, and other service providers Knowledge of counseling techniques and behavioral intervention strategies Skilled in communicating verbally and in writing Skilled in listening and assessing needs of workers and staff Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, board members and the general public Patience and a sense of humor!
