System Development Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering Job ID: 2914163 | Amazon Logistics, Inc. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) seeks an experienced, innovative, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer to lead the development of new robotic products for our Delivery Station of the future. This role involves being part of the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team, responsible for strategizing, defining, and managing robotics software development for AMZL Delivery Stations. This position requires individuals with robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills. The successful candidate will influence the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience. Key job responsibilities Develop and improve software for AMZL, working with Product Owners and System Developers to define and design software architectures for new automation and robotics concepts. Analyze vendor-made new technologies and integrate them into AMZL Software Architecture. Test and commission software on machines in Innovation Centers worldwide and operational sites. Required skills and qualifications Advanced expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16+, Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drive, Industrial Fieldbuses like Ethernet-IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, IO-Link) Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (TCP-IP, OPC-UA) Hands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred) Familiarity with version control systems like git Knowledge of Object-Oriented Industrial Programming (OOIP) Experience managing automation software development, including design, development, troubleshooting, and optimization Strong project management skills, including site commissioning and acceptance testing Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural contexts Knowledge of safety standards and certification processes for machinery Experience with automation solutions such as conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cells Basic qualifications Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes Programming skills in Codesys and at least one modern language (Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust) Preferred qualifications Experience with distributed systems at scale Additional information Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
