Job Title: Utility Barback Location: Smelly Cat Karaoke Bar
Position Summary: The
Utility Barback
is a hybrid team member who supports both the bar and kitchen at Smelly Cat Karaoke Bar. This role is responsible for executing a limited fry menu with precision and consistency, while also performing traditional barback duties that keep our bar team running smoothly. If you thrive in a fast-paced, music-filled environment and aren't afraid to bounce between baskets of fries and cases of beer, this gig is for you. Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Duties - Fry Station (BOH) Prepare and cook menu items from a limited fry-based menu Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fry station Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality standards Stock and prep fry station items as needed throughout the shift Communicate with bar and kitchen teams to ensure timely service Barback Duties (FOH)
Restock beer, liquor, mixers, glassware, garnishes, and bar tools Keep bar areas clean and organized (including bar tops, sinks, wells, and floors) Assist bartenders during busy periods (e.g., bussing, ice runs, trash removal) Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to managers Support team members with opening and closing side work Requirements: Previous kitchen or barback experiencerequired Ability to work in hot, fast-paced environments Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices Team player with a great attitude and strong communication skills Must be 21+ and eligible to work in a venue serving alcohol
