As a Program Registered Nurse (RN), you will be primarily responsible for assessing the medical needs for refugee and immigrant youth who are new admissions into the transitional assessment center. You will be working collaboratively within a small team of registered nurses to meet multiple program needs. This role is served best by a nurse who works well independently and functions cohesively within a transdisciplinary treatment team.
This position is expected to function effectively with limited supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Assess and document the physical, medical, and emotional needs of refugees, immigrants, and asylees. Ensure the safety of all patients in care; Coordinate the patient's medical care through the period of services, while also facilitating health assessments or specialized medical treatment; Provide medical resources, information, and consultation to parents, foster parents, case managers, therapist, and youth specialists; Initiate and assist with coordinating medical referrals to community medical providers; Partner with case managers in maintaining medical and dental records to include but not limited to immunization records, health appraisal forms, medical histories on child and biological parents, and monitoring medical passports to ensure completion through consultation with staff, facilitating physical exams; Serve as a liaison for Bethany within the medical community; Serve as a consultant and resource related to OSHA standards, bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis; Completed other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Active Licensure as a Registered Nurse in for the state of the work location (RN); At least three (3) years of experience working with families and children as a Nurse or equivalent role, strongly preferred; Bilingual (Spanish) preferred; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate medical service; Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality; Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks; Work well under pressure and adaptable to change; Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident; Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization; Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions; Must be 21 years old with a valid driver'slicense with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalfof Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain areliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage; Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries; Documentation of immunity to vaccine preventable diseases orthe willingness to receive vaccination, or seek an exemption; Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement and Commitment to Unity.
