Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities region-and its rural setting featuring 750+ acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the state's oldest and largest pecan grove.
RBC is currently recruiting for Faculty/Grant Coordinators. The Faculty/Grant Coordinator plays a dual role, combining academic instruction with grant coordination responsibilities. Reporting directly to the Director of Sponsored Programs, this position is funded through external grants and supports strategic initiatives such as the Faculty Mindfulness and Creativity Program and the Online/Hybrid Workforce and Career Readiness Soft Launch.
The Faculty/Grant Coordinator will teach 3-5 online or hybrid courses per academic year and will coordinate a grant, aligned with one or more institutional priority areas. All faculty appointments must receive approval from both the Director of Sponsored Programs and the Chair of the respective academic department.
The Faculty/Grand Coordinator is required to work 12 months. Must have a background in STEM and be committed to interdisciplinary approaches that integrate technology, health, and workforce development.
KEY FOCUS AREAS FOR GRANT COORDINATION:
Each Faculty/Grant Coordinator will manage a grant connected to one or more of the following focus areas: • Virtual Reality, Drones, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) • Mental Health, Music Therapy, or related Public Health fields • Violence and/or Substance Abuse Prevention • Public Health Interventions • Maternal and Child Health • Workforce Development
Teaching & Student Engagement: • Instruct 3-5 online or hybrid courses annually in assigned STEM discipline. • Design and deliver course content that aligns with college and departmental learning outcomes. • Submit timely reports on student performance, attendance, and academic progress. • Support recruitment and student engagement initiatives in STEM fields. • Promote mental health awareness and support services for student success.
Grant Coordination & Program Support: • Develop, manage, and implement grant-funded programs in alignment with institutional priorities. • Document scope, objectives, key deliverables, success metrics, and reporting mechanisms for the grant project. • Coordinate and lead virtual and in-person sessions to recruit and enroll students in grant- related programs. • Work collaboratively across departments to integrate contemplative practices into student support and workforce training programs. • Support enrollment processes for online and on-campus programs and events. • Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of grant outcomes and impact.
Operational & Strategic Contributions: • Attend and contribute to planning meetings, workshops, and community outreach events. • Maintain thorough and organized records in accordance with grant compliance standards. • Demonstrate strong initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Uphold and promote the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Richard Bland College.
Other Responsibilities: • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sponsored Programs or department leadership. • Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree in a STEM discipline or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, or a Master's degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant STEM area. • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in assigned discipline(s). • Customer service experience and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate. • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students in diverse learning environments.
Additional Considerations
• College-level teaching experience. • Experience coordinating or managing grant-funded initiatives. • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative educational strategies or interventions.
