Job Description General Summary Under minimal supervision, works with internal and external customers to understand and analyze requirements and develop business intelligence (BI) solutions using underlying technologies. Contributes to the design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of analytic solutions. The successful candidate must demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills with an expert understanding of relational database/BI environments and related technologies. The candidate must be able to develop insightful visualizations with concise storytelling. Conduct external research and develop exploratory analysis. Supports key strategic organizational priorities, including population health management, clinical performance, and quality/operational performance. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical & Business Intelligence. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by people in this role. They are not exhaustive of all job duties: Serve as a member of cross-functional teams to achieve goals of BI (and broader Data & Analytics) projects, including work plans, system design, and testing of solutions. Develop dynamic data discovery and visualization analytics environments using exploratory analysis, storytelling, and statistical concepts. Assist project sponsors in interpreting and using the results; ensure data understanding by users. Develop data flow diagrams for BI solutions and projects. Support research, data collection, and analysis efforts. Create medium to complex reports, visualizations, and applications using tools like SQL, R, Python, Tableau, HTML, Java, and Crystal Reports. Identify project risks and work proactively to address them within scope, timelines, and budgets. Troubleshoot implementation issues and test security measures. Support technical development and maintenance of BI applications and tools. Interpret conceptual, logical, and physical data models and design documents. Perform medium to complex data queries and understand data modeling concepts. Validate and execute test plans for solutions and applications, ensuring high availability. Prepare documentation, reports, and presentation materials. Coordinate prototype reviews, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Develop healthcare subject matter expertise related to products, data elements, and BI applications. Align IT solutions with business objectives. Estimate software development efforts, report issues, and track analysis. Develop prototypes demonstrating technical feasibility using hardware and software tools. Create robust, reusable software addressing system goals. Conduct routine and ad-hoc data analysis, providing insights for strategic decisions. Perform basic statistical analyses to evaluate clinical and operational initiatives. Provide end-user application support and guidance, and assist less experienced staff. Participate in professional development and knowledge transfer activities. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience with demonstrated BI skills. Minimum four (4) years in BI and analytics, developing medium to complex projects with tools like SQL, Python, Tableau, R, etc. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C#, Java, or Python. Experience with exploratory data analysis, storytelling, and visualization. Basic statistical knowledge including distributions, probability, correlation, and hypothesis testing. Knowledge of database design, relational concepts, and problem analysis. Epic Certification in a Clarity Data Model or completion within 3 months of hire preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong analytical, organizational, and independent working skills. Ability to develop technical specifications and assess platforms. Skilled in data manipulation, automation, and data discovery. Excellent communication skills for oral and written presentations. Attention to detail and ability to analyze, compare, and validate data. Understanding of security procedures and regulatory compliance.
