This position will be hired at the Senior Financial Aid Counselor or Financial Aid Counselor depending on qualifications and experience.
Position Summary:
The Senior Financial Aid Counselor Aid will support financial aid operations in all aspects of the application, awarding, delivery, and reconciliation of federal, state, private and institutional financial aid. This position will be viewed as a leader in the Financial Aid Office and process federal, state, and private financial aid applications in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Director of Financial Aid. In addition, this role will be responsible for various special programs managed within the Financial Aid Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Counsel prospective and returning students on all aspects of Federal, State, and Institutional Aid sources Understanding of Admissions and Bursar Office processes to effectively communicate to prospective current students. Assist with completing annual Single Audit as well as periodic State Program Reviews. Review and update C-flags: Conflicting Information, Statement of Education, Pell Lifetime Limits, Unusual Enrollment History, Pell POPs, etc. Award and maintain the following state grant awards: NCFEL, Golden Leaf, NCTAP, NCPAT. Award Outside Scholarships that are submitted to Financial Aid Office from the Bursar's Office. Complete Duke Children's Tuition and Duke Tuition Reimbursement Request forms and submit electronically to Duke University. Award Faculty Staff educational benefits to CU full-time employees and/or spouse/dependents. Certify dorm scholarships each fall and spring semester for students that have been awarded it. Work collaboratively with colleagues to review and process Special and Unusual Circumstance Appeals, Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals as well as Academic Merit Appeals. Train colleagues in various duties. This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University. Bachelor's Degree required At least two years of direct experience in Financial Aid preferred Current working knowledge of Ellucian Colleague preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situation Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment Upon hire, have a broad knowledge of, and abide by, Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and FERPA guidelines
