About the Hospice CNA Position
The Hospice CNA provides personal care and light housekeeping services to terminally ill patients in various settings, including homes, nursing facilities, and inpatient units. This role involves working as part of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), providing care in accordance with the patient’s care plan, observing and reporting on patient conditions, and documenting services accurately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Medicare-approved Hospice Aide/Homemaker training program and certification by the Board of Nursing in New Jersey.
- Ability to pass a written competency test as per federal regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- At least one year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting; community health or hospice experience preferred.
Skills and Attributes
- Professional attitude and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work constructively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and care for terminally ill patients.
- Demonstrates optimism, enthusiasm, and concern for patient and team well-being.
