We’re Growing Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Carilion Children’s, Roanoke, VA Carilion Clinic is reimagining cancer care for our region and beyond. We are seeking a visionary leader as Section Chief to lead the transformation and programmatic development as we move into the new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center opening in 2027. Join Carilion Clinic’s Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care Service at Carilion Children's located in Roanoke, Virginia as we elevate comprehensive patient-centered oncology care at Carilion Clinic. We have an additional need for a full-time ABMS/AOA Board Certified Pediatrics and BC/BE Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our existing service of two full-time physicians. This is a great opportunity to join an established clinic-based, academic practice to provide Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Palliative Care services as part of the only tertiary center in southwest Virginia. Training and interest in Neuro-oncology and/or Sickle Cell is desired to support our growing Pediatric Neurosurgery programs. With an integrated multidisciplinary approach to children's cancer treatment and access to Carilion's many subspecialty areas, our pediatric patients benefit from the combined expertise of a team of closely coordinated caregivers. This opportunity includes teaching medical students and pediatric residents. Additional clinical research opportunities are available through Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. This position includes a faculty appointment with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine based in Roanoke, Virginia. Candidates must have excellent clinical experience, proven academic interest, and enthusiasm for education and teaching of fellows, residents, and students. Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital, part of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, is a full member of the Children’s Oncology Group and serves as the tertiary referral center for over 185,000 children across a wide span of southwest Virginia. Our full-service 92-bed Children's Hospital provides universal and intensive care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients and houses the second largest neonatal intensive care unit in Virginia, and the only pediatric intensive care, dedicated pediatric unit, and pediatric level 1 trauma center in southwest Virginia. Pediatric expertise and support are available in most subspecialties including hospitalist medicine, critical care medicine, neonatology, cardiology, endocrinology, allergy/immunology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, neurology, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, psychiatry, behavioral health, and developmental pediatrics. The Roanoke Valley features a cohesive pediatric community with more than 20 pediatricians in private practice. A five-time 'All America City', the Roanoke Valley is a metropolitan area of more than 300,000, located at the southern tip of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
