Position Summary
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Assessment
An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a patient, including physiological, psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.

- Focused assessment based on patient condition, setting, and population
Problem Identification
Problem identification is the nurse's clinical judgment about the patient's response to health conditions or needs.
Planning and Outcomes
Based on assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable, achievable goals in collaboration with the patient and family. These are documented in the care plan.
- Establishing daily goals with the patient and family
- Formulating a care plan
- Transition or Discharge planning
Implementation
Nursing care is implemented according to the care plan, ensuring continuity of care and proper documentation.
- Ensures patient safety
- Medication administration
- Provision of treatments
- Patient/Family education
- Nursing care documentation
Evaluation
Continuous evaluation of patient status and care effectiveness, with modifications as needed.
Care Coordination
Actions to manage and improve patient care from admission to discharge, including delegation, supervision, and prioritization.
Qualifications
The RN must possess the following:
- Valid Arizona Nursing License or compact state license, with ability to obtain Arizona license within 30 days.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other certifications as required.
Education:
- Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
Work Experience: None required.
