Job Description The Director II, Strategy & Business Insights is a pivotal and highly strategic leadership role within the Clinical Development Operations (CDO) organization. This role is responsible for shaping and advancing the data strategy, analytics roadmap, and business insights capability that enable faster, smarter, and more effective clinical trial execution across AbbVie’s global portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Acceleration & Performance, this leader partners closely with senior executives across R&D and CDO to develop and deliver transformative insights that inform decision-making at all levels. In addition to setting the strategic direction for advanced analytics and visualization, the Director II is accountable for the successful development and leadership of two cornerstone platforms: VISION, AbbVie’s enterprise data visualization and performance management system, and CATALYST, our machine learning-driven site selection and feasibility engine. CATALYST , two enterprise platforms critical to planning, monitoring, and optimizing clinical trial execution In partnership with cross-functional teams (e.g., DSS, BTS/IR), establish and maintain scalable data and analytics infrastructure, enabling timely and actionable insights Guide the integration of internal and external data sources to develop CDO’s data asset strategy and create competitive advantage in study design, site selection, and operational performance Provide strategic direction and oversight for advanced analytics, data visualization, and performance management in alignment with business priorities Act as a thought partner to senior leaders, enabling forward-looking decision-making through the synthesis of complex information into clear and compelling strategic narratives Foster cross-functional collaboration to improve analytical maturity, enable innovation, and align insight generation with enterprise goals Promote continuous improvement of business operations, prioritizing enhancements that improve efficiency, user experience, and organizational agility Build, lead, and coach a high-performing team of insights professionals, cultivating a culture of excellence, curiosity, and cross-functional impact Represent the function across departmental and enterprise forums, contributing to knowledge-sharing, governance, and the advancement of analytics and insights capabilities
Qualifications Master’s or PhD in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related field preferred Minimum 12 years of industry experience, with at least 7 years in analytics, strategy, or clinical development, ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector Proven experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams, including people leaders and geographically dispersed staff Demonstrated ability to translate business challenges into data strategies, and to deliver insight-driven solutions that support strategic decision-making Expertise in data visualization, advanced analytics, and strategic performance management tools (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI, R, Python) Familiarity with AI, machine learning, forecasting models, and predictive analytics relevant to clinical trial operations Strong business acumen with the ability to prioritize effectively, balance rigor with pragmatism, and influence cross-functional stakeholders Exceptional communication and executive storytelling skills, with a track record of engagement with senior leadership Experience with large-scale system development or product ownership for business intelligence platforms is a plus Passion for advancing innovation in support of patient-centric, data-informed clinical development

This range may be modified in thefuture. Salary:$177,000 - $336,000
