Job Purpose:
Cerberus Business Finance is a leading agent, direct lender, and originator of senior secured loans for large U.S. middle-market companies. With ~$30 billion of investment capacity, CBF provides financing solutions to PE-Sponsor owned companies in a wide variety of industries. Since its founding in 1995, CBF has completed loan transactions with over 1,000 borrowers and over 260 PE Sponsor clients.
As a Vice President, you will perform portfolio monitoring and analysis on large U.S. middle market companies owned by Cerberus Business Finance. Additionally, you will serve as a change agent with portfolio companies, driving restructuring efforts via financial analysis and modeling, and onsite transformation with portfolio company senior management. You will also perform in-depth investment analysis, assisting senior investment professionals through full deal lifecycle for loan investments.
Responsibilities/Deliverables:
- Participate with senior investment team professionals in managing stressed and distressed situations
- Participate in complex negotiations with our portfolio companies, PE sponsors and other constituents
- Advise and effectuate financing, M&A and restructuring transactions for stressed portfolio companies
- Analyze historical financial information and prepare/present projected company financials
- Coordinate and perform business due diligence (including onsite work)
- Perform financial modeling and other analytics
- Collaborate with portfolio deal teams on individual investments
- Analyze and underwrite new loan transactions
- Legal documentation review and analysis, including loan agreements, sale agreements and restructuring documentation (including Chapter 11 filings, as applicable)
- Support team with investment term negotiations and legal documentation
- As part of portfolio monitoring, input financials and other information in data management systems, and periodically report to committees
- Interact regularly with PE Sponsor clients and portfolio companies
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- 7-10 years of investment banking, private equity or private credit experience (restructuring / special situations, leveraged financeor M&A) and/or restructuring advisory/consulting experience (with at least 2-3 years of investment banking experience)
- Middle market deal experience preferred
- Exceptional financial modeling skillset including three statement modeling, DCFs, and LBOs
- Familiarity with deal documentation
- Strong financial analysis capabilities and accounting knowledge
- Experienced with valuation methodologies including comparable company and precedent transactions
- Self-motivated and exceptional work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intellectual curiosity with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Expeditious and accurate production of investor and internal deliverables
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg
- Willingness to travel to portfolio companies as needed
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $175,000.00 and $225,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is often a meaningful portion of the compensation package, and a robust benefits package.
