The Pharmacy Program Manager is responsible for developing and managing technology-based solutions and informatics to promote safe, effective, and optimal use of medications within the VA Detroit Medical Center. The incumbent requires the ability to apply a unique combination of pharmacist and informatics-related knowledge and skills to successfully plan, implement, and manage existing and future specialized pharmacy service automated data processing (ADP) applications. Duties
The applicant must be able to apply a combination of pharmacist and informatics knowledge to manage software programs for outpatient prescription dispensing, ward stock distribution, unit dose, IV admixture, narcotic dispensing, CPRS, BCMA, pharmacy procurement activities, automatic dispensing machines, inventory control, and office automation/administration. Responsibilities include data gathering, analysis, reporting, and acting as a liaison between Pharmacy Service, Clinical Applications Coordinators, and the Office of Information and Technology (OI&T). The role involves process improvement, quality assurance, staff training, and collaboration with healthcare teams to enhance patient care and cost efficiency. The pharmacist will also develop and monitor pharmacoeconomic programs, focusing on formulary management, medication cost containment, and clinical outcomes. Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Not available for telework. This is a non-virtual position. Requirements
You must be a U.S. Citizen. All applicants are subject to drug screening and background checks. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficiency in English is required. Must pass pre-employment physical and participate in influenza vaccination program. Qualifications
Applicants must have a degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school, a valid pharmacist license, and meet experience requirements for the GS-13 level, including one year of relevant experience. The role requires excellent communication, regulatory knowledge, problem-solving skills, and expertise in clinical pharmacy practice or specialty areas. Additional Information
