Electrical Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer - Job Description

The Electrical Engineer / PLC Programmer will design, test, install and maintain large-scale electrical/electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Programming the manufacturing process for electrical equipment using PLC programming software to produce and troubleshoot PLC programs.
- Primary function of the employee will be PLC and HMI programming integrated with several devices such as servo drives, vision systems, and pneumatic/hydraulic devices.
- Review specifications and standard practices, including internal hardwire and logic standards, general specifications, and scope of work.
- Review projects including job specifications and resolve any discrepancies.
- Design requirements including establishing non-standard designs, generating system map layouts, generating a sequence of operations, reviewing cycle time studies, and generating design packages.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software.
- Responsible for the programming, installation, and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software.
- System architecture including non-standard material and control panel power requirements/distribution.
- Collaborating with team members to find and develop new programming solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or a minimum of 5 years experience as a PLC Programmer.
- Background in a manufacturing environment and capital equipment desired.
- Demonstrated ability to program motion control systems.
- Familiarity with electrical drawing software and ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Ability to assemble and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems.
- Pharmaceutical processing knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with Siemens PLC and HMI programming using both TIA Portal and Step 7.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel:
- Willing to travel domestically/internationally and meet all health requirements set by airlines and specific entrance/exit requisites for visited countries.
