Job Objective This role supports the implementation and execution of the Facility Integrity Management Program (FIMP), with a primary emphasis on internal corrosion control. The Integrity Engineer will support internal corrosion management strategy, inspection planning, and data evaluation to ensure regulatory compliance and protection of critical infrastructure assets. Experience with API 570, API 653, internal corrosion mitigation and monitoring programs, CAD drafting software, and data trending is essential. Familiarity with API 571 Damage Mechanisms, external corrosion and cathodic protection systems is beneficial. Internal Corrosion & Facility Integrity Support the development, execution, and continuous refinement of internal corrosion control programs for tanks, piping, and pressure vessels. Collaborate with Operations and Chemical/Material Vendors to implement and monitor internal corrosion mitigation measures, including chemical treatment programs, material selection and solids removal. Analyze results from corrosion monitoring tools (e.g., coupons, probes, solids analysis, ultrasonic thickness readings) to assess corrosion rates and degradation mechanisms. Evaluate integrity threats related to operational upsets, dead legs, water accumulation, and flow regimes, and recommend preventive actions. Reviewing and approving inspection contractors’ work scope and procedures. Coordinate and assess results from tank and piping inspections (e.g., API 653 inspections, internal visual inspections, NDE/UT thickness testing). Identify and track facility integrity threats in systems such as PCMS or other integrity databases. Risk Evaluation & Repair Strategy Perform facility-specific risk assessments based on corrosion potential, inspection data, operating history, and consequence of failure. Recommend repair strategies and prioritize maintenance actions based on integrity evaluations, risk profiles, and regulatory timelines. Participate in failure analyses and root cause investigations involving internal corrosion-related incidents. Regulatory Compliance & Program Development Ensure compliance with integrity regulations and standards including 49 CFR Parts 192/195, API 653, API 510, API 570, and AMPP guidelines. Prepare and maintain documentation for agency inspections and internal audits. Develop internal procedures, inspection plans, and reporting tools to support consistent execution of the Facility Integrity Management Program. Cross-Functional Support Support integrity reviews and technical recommendations during Management of Change (MOC) processes and capital projects. Provide subject matter input for integrity-related procedures, tank repairs, and inspection scopes. As needed, assist with external corrosion mitigation efforts, including cathodic protection (CP) evaluations, AC/DC interference mitigation, and annual CP survey reviews. Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of experience in internal corrosion engineering, chemical treatment, or facility integrity roles. Strong understanding of internal corrosion threats and mitigation strategies within liquids pipelines, terminals, and tank systems. Working knowledge of CFR 195/192, API 653, API 510, API 570 and other relevant codes and standards. Proficiency with corrosion data analysis tools and inspection data management software (e.g., PCMS, Excel, PowerBI). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in CAD drafting software Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Education Requirements Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or related discipline) from an accredited university.
