Reports To: PRINCIPAL/BUILDING LEADER
*Location: VARIES BASED ON ASSIGNMENT
Compensation: Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7783
Hours Per Day: 7.0 hrs/day
Contracted Days: 200 days/yr
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
•High school diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or satisfactory progress toward G.E.D.
•Demonstrate and/or develops skills related to operation of the computer.
Knowledge Of:
•Proficient computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites.
•Applicable systems and software.
•Subject matter in area of assignment.
•Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty.
•In-service materials, subject matter and methods in area of specialty.
•Record-keeping techniques including filing.
•Oral and written communication skills including English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
•Telephone techniques and etiquette.
•Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
•Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
•Technical aspects of field of specialty.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Perform routine typing and general clerical activities in support of a school or district function.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
•Utilize a computer, software, and web-based systems to complete daily tasks.
•Observes system operations and determines whether programs appear to be operating correctly.
•Analyzes potential problems and takes corrective action where called for or seeks assistance from system programmer where causes of problems are not apparent.
•Performs procedures required for system backup, including copying system files, checkpoints, message logs, etc.
•Routinely create and edit electronic documents using systems such as Microsoft and Google Suites.
•Follow procedures to verify and compute data.
•Maintains sequence and control of source documents.
•Recognizes and corrects errors in original entry data prior to processing.
•Recognizes deficiencies in source documents, and returns them for correction.
•Receives and routes all incoming communication in appropriate manner.
•Plans and completes work on a timely basis to meet timelines.
•Works effectively with school staff members.
•Exercises good judgement in decision making, good character, and maintains confidentiality.
•Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools.
•Maintains an organized work area.
•Continually strives to grow professionally.
