Austin Achieve High School is an open-enrollment, tuition-free, public charter preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at the nation’s top colleges and universities. The Dean of Instructional Support plays an essential role in this mission through coaching and developing teachers, managing projects, and tracking student success specifically focused on Math and Science . Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee content areas assigned in instructional goal-setting and long-term planning
- Analyze data regularly to maximize student performance by identifying instructional gaps
- Ensure that every student shows dramatic achievement gains and that the school meets the ambitious performance goals through instructional coaching of teachers
- Directly manage, and coach, a portfolio of teachers
- Train teachers to develop clear and consistent classroom expectations and routines
- Observe and model lessons while providing targeted and actionable feedback to teachers
- Plan staff professional development related to academic achievement strategies throughout the school year.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Fluent Spanish speakers preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with teachers to support students’ needs.
- Deep-seated belief in the mission and vision of Austin Achieve.
- Be willing to do “whatever it takes” to ensure all students are prepared for academic success.
Experience Preferred:
- Previous success working collaboratively with students and other adults.
- Proven success in a math or science classroom, preferred.
- Four years minimum of teaching experience, preferred.
- Two years minimum experience with low-income, diverse adolescent populations.
- Experience initiating projects and working independently, without close supervision.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children.
