Job Title: General Dentist – Correctional Setting
Location: North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), Raleigh, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday – Friday)
Compensation: $120 - $125 per hour ($249,600 - $260,000 annually)
Job Summary:
The North Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated and skilled General Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care to the incarcerated population at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) in Raleigh, NC. This full-time position offers a stable schedule (Monday through Friday) and a competitive compensation package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Provide preventive, restorative, and surgical dental care, including fillings, extractions, and prosthetic procedures.
- Manage dental pain and infections with appropriate interventions.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care practices.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with state and institutional guidelines.
- Collaborate with medical and mental health staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to all correctional facility protocols and security measures.
- Supervise and direct dental assistants and support staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Valid and unrestricted North Carolina dental license.
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in general dentistry (experience in a correctional or public health setting preferred).
- DEA registration for prescribing necessary medications.
- Certificate of Insurance (COI)/Malpractice insurance coverage.
- Strong diagnostic, treatment planning, and procedural skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured correctional environment.
