D3 Search is actively seeking an accomplished Manager of Leaves & Accommodations for a respected global AMLAW ranked law practice with a long-standing office in Los Angeles, CA (90071).

Position Summary :
Prominent AMLAW ranked law practice seeks an experienced and motivated Manager, Leaves and Accommodations to work in their Talent Management department.
Under the direct supervision of the Director, Talent Management, the Manager, Leaves and Accommodations will be responsible for the management of all leaves of absence (U.S. and International), accommodation determinations, the worker’s compensation program and assisting the team with the administration of the U.S. benefit plans (including health and wellness, life and disability and multiple voluntary programs), as needed.
In this capacity, the Manager, Leaves and Accommodations will:
- Provide subject-matter expertise related to global leaves of absence, accommodations, workers’ compensation, ergonomics and compliance programs;
- Provide day-to-day leadership, oversight and coordination of the team’s responsibilities in accordance with the Firm's strategic goals, policies, and federal and state laws and regulations;
- Set overall priorities and initiatives for the Firm's leaves of absence, accommodations, workers’ compensation, ergonomics and compliance, including preparing and maintaining SOPs and project plans;
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws, including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA-HITECH, DOL and IRS regulations in collaboration with Department Management, Directors of Business Operations and Talent Management department;
- Lead implementation of new programs, portal content updates, vendor RFPs and contract negotiations related to leaves of absence;
- Manage the Firm's workers' compensation program including, but not limited to; handling claims, settlement negotiations, and coordination with outside counsel to attend depositions/hearings;
- Regularly review policy documents for updates;
- Oversee payroll and benefit premium collection for individuals on leave;
- Prepare reports reflecting individuals currently on leave and any applicable budget relief for timekeepers;
- Initiate the interactive process when necessary;
- Review and provide recommendations for all ADA accommodations;
- Ensure that all records related to leave of absence, workers’ comp, ergonomics and accommodations are complete and accurate;
- Review ergonomic assessments and recommendations for approval;
- Engage with the Firm's Chief Employment counsel regarding complex leave and accommodation issues;
- Develop, implement and monitor appropriate controls and metrics to identify and recommend improvements to current processes to ensure that overall performance is aligned with business objectives;
- Manage team performance, set goals and ensure the team’s continuous professional development;
- Interface with consultants, vendors, and carriers as needed;
- Assist with benefit administration and respond to general inquiries as needed;
- Act with a high degree of integrity and discretion handling confidential employee information;
- Exercises good judgment at all times with respect to data privacy, security and all Firm policies and procedures; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Proficiencies:
- Advanced knowledge of customer-service principles;
- Expert knowledge of employment/leave of absence/ADA accommodation-related laws and practices;
- Expert knowledge of leaves of absence administration;
- Fundamental knowledge of benefit programs;
- Fundamental knowledge of general payroll concepts;
- Fundamental proficiency in Workday (preferred) or other human resource management systems;
- Fundamental proficiency in payroll systems (e.g.: ADP Vantage);
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications is required; and
- Advanced knowledge of related regulations (i.e., COBRA, HIPAA-HITECH, Section 125, qualifying family events, PPACA, ERISA, 401(k), 415).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Human Resources or other Business related field, industry certification (i.e. CEBS) a plus;
- At least 7 years of experience in leave of absence administration (required);
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience; and
- At least 3 years of experience in a professional services or legal environment.
Salary/Compensation/Benefits:
Starting salary is up to 175K | DOE/DOQ. Full health benefits package, generous PTO, paid parking onsite, yearly review, annual salary increases and bonuses (based on individual performance & merit), etc.
