City of Boston Overview The Mayor's Office is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and creative Digital Content and Data Visualization Strategist who is passionate about visually communicating the important work of the City of Boston on Mayor Michelle Wu's social media platforms. The Digital Content and Data Visualization Strategist will report to the Mayor's Digital Communications Director and support the Mayor's Digital Team in advancing Mayor Wu's vision by producing engaging digital art, social media content, event collateral, print materials, and visualizations of data sets to inform and serve Boston's diverse communities. Responsibilities Design visually compelling graphics, social media content, event collateral, and print materials aligned with the Mayor’s brand and communication goals. Collaborate with the Digital Communications Director, public information officers, and City departments for cohesive messaging. Create and manage social media campaigns using data insights to boost engagement and public understanding. Develop digital strategies to engage audiences across platforms, including websites and print. Analyze data sets to derive insights and create visual content like reports and dashboards. Design and publish digital media, including motion graphics and interactive content. Monitor digital trends to optimize content performance. Use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or R Studio to create data visualizations and narratives. Present reports and workshops on data insights and digital trends. Assist with multimedia projects such as photography and video. Perform related duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications At least three years of professional experience in graphic design or social media management with a portfolio of digital content. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and data analytics software. Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly and effectively in public presentations. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities. Experience with web development and Drupal. Ability to work in fast-paced, response-oriented environments, including after hours and weekends. Attention to detail, discretion, and good judgment. Experience managing social media content and campaigns. Preferred Qualifications Experience in government or political communication. Proficiency in Adobe After Effects and motion graphics. Familiarity with social media management tools like Meta Creator Studio. Skilled in platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, and others, as well as Slack, Google Drive, Trello, and Asana. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus. Additional Details Boston residency required. Terms: Non-Union/MM2-7, 35 hours/week. Job Details
