Position Summary
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Fraternity & Sorority Life. - Boca Raton, FL.
The Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) focuses on enhancing membership growth and engagement within the fraternity and sorority community. Reporting to the Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, this position is responsible for developing strategies to increase membership, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring active participation in fraternity and sorority activities. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with student leaders, campus partners, and inter/national headquarters to implement consistent practices, ensure regulatory alignment, and support the vibrant and inclusive functioning of fraternity and sorority operations in alignment with FAUs strategic goals.
Summary Of Responsibilities
Advising & Leadership Development:
- Serve as the primary advisor for one governing council, providing guidance on governance, policy interpretation, programming, and leadership development.
- Attend council executive board meetings, general body meetings, and council-sponsored events.
- Assist councils in planning and executing recruitment, educational initiatives, and leadership programs.
- Support individual chapter officers, providing resources and training for chapter operations, recruitment, new member education, risk management, and policy compliance.
- Serve as a chapter coach for a cluster of chapters across all four councils. Attend and engage with student organization meetings and programs to foster strong relationships and support student leaders.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase membership within the fraternity and sorority community.
- Facilitate the recruitment, training, and support of professional and student staff, as well as volunteers.
- Oversee recruitment and membership intake processes, ensuring compliance with Fraternity & Sorority Life policies and new member education requirements.
- Collaborate with university stakeholders to support values-based recruitment and retention strategies.
- Create and promote initiatives that foster a sense of community and belonging among fraternity and sorority members.
- Organize events and activities that encourage active participation and engagement within the fraternity and sorority community.
- Provide education and oversight regarding university policies, national policies, and risk management best practices.
- Partner with campus offices, including Student Conduct and Residence Life, to address risk management concerns and incident response.
- Coordinate leadership development initiatives, including officer training, council retreats, and community-wide programming.
- Support fraternity and sorority philanthropy and service initiatives, fostering a culture of civic engagement.
- Assist in planning and implementing large-scale events such as Greek Week, leadership conferences, and awards ceremonies.
- Supervise a Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life and/or graduate assistants as assigned.
- Provide staff evaluations, feedback, and professional development plans for direct reports.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Assess and report on the effectiveness of FSL programs and initiatives.
- Monitor and track completion of FSL milestones, chapter-based requirements for good standing, and RSO recognition processes in conjunction with the Department of Student Engagement.
- Collect and analyze data on recruitment, membership trends, academic performance, and program outcomes.
- Prepare reports for university leadership and stakeholders regarding the fraternity and sorority community's progress and impact.
- Responsible for interpreting the impact of fraternity and sorority life on students and the campus, using assessment data to inform strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts by utilizing data to enhance programs and student engagement.
- Manage financial resources allocated to fraternity and sorority programming and initiatives.
- Oversee council budgets and assist in identifying external funding opportunities to support fraternity and sorority programs.
- Ensure responsible budget planning and financial tracking for assigned areas, collaborating with the Director on major financial decisions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.
Salary
$50,000 per year.
